
In the year 871, Bacharach was documentary mentioned for the very first time. From time immemorial, Bacharach has owed its reputation to its viticulture and wine-trade. As early as in medieval times, this town enjoyed an international reputation as the main stockyard for wines from the Middle Rhine, Nahe and the Rheingau. It ranked among the most famous wine-growing places.
